Marshall in New Mexico: How about a little love for One Tree Hill? You’ve been leaving it cold and lonely.
Well then, let me cozy up. Sources tell me we will find out that Peyton wasn’t just sitting around pining for Lucas when she was in L.A. A movie producer wants to turn Ravens into a film. Also, Nathan plays Slamball, and Owen the hot bartender comes back.
For locally filmed drama series One Tree Hill, its fifth season (available on DVD today) proved to be its most dramatic yet. And I’m not talking about the storylines.
One Tree Hill, a show that has filmed in Wilmington since its debut in 2003 and had been in danger of cancellation at the end of each of its first four seasons, launched into its fifth year with an unprecedented move.
Its characters, who graduated high school at the end of season four, would start the new season four years older. The move let the show bypass the potentially awkward college years that typically plague high-school dramas. It also reinvigorated the storytelling. Season five also featured the show’s 100th episode, a milestone few thought attainable five years ago and which was celebrated with a star-studded gala at Cameron Art Museum last winter.
Footage and interviews from that 100th episode party are included in the bonus features of the season five collection. Show creator Mark Schwahn talks about how strange and nice it was to bring together the Wilmington crew with the West Coast-based executives. Local crew members also get several shout-outs from executive producer Joe Davola, among others.
The cast ruminates about how life in Wilmington, away from glitzy Los Angeles and the Hollywood lifestyle, has forced them to bond into a family unit. Plus, it had kept them from realizing how much of an impact their show had made during its first 100 episodes.
And of course, each cast member filmed a special thank you to the show’s fans, whom locals know are the most rabid, loyal and faithful in all of TV Land.
details: All 18 episodes come in a five-disc package that has deleted scenes and commentary. DVD set, $59.98. (Warner Bros.)
A Word has been flying around the internet rapidly about this being the last season of One Tree Hill and it’s mainly due to Chad and Sophia not signing on for a seventh season. We’re not sure where this rumor originated from, but we’re here to let you know that it’s absolutely false.
We were told by our OTH insiders that there’s no truth to it. Besides, the sixth season hasn’t even premiered yet so there hasn’t been any official talk as to whether the it’s the final one, or just the beginning of more. Please disregard any further rumors until an official statement is released indicting whether or not One Tree Hill will return for a seventh season. credit: othweb.net

Tree Hill Exclusive: Details on Lindsey’s Extended Stay
posted 08/21/08
Could it be that Lucas called and proposed to Lindsey? Many ruled her out once Michaela McManus got cast on SVU, but One Tree Hill’s creator wants you to consider her still in the mix. “Michaela is returning, and for more than one episode,” Mark Schwahn told me exclusively during an in-depth preview of the new season. “We’ll see Lindsey throughout the year.”
To those who track spoilers/on-set sightings and profess to know who Lucas wound up calling, Schwahn argues, “If Lucas were to pick Lindsey, who’s to say she’d pick him back? And if she does, who’s to say it works out? A lot of people have eliminated her as a candidate because they know a lot about show biz, but I’m like, ‘Hold on a second….’”
Does that mean OTH’s mighty love “rectangle” of Lucas, Brooke, Peyton and Linds is destined to continue on? “Not really, and not romantically,” says Schwahn. “As you get older and more complex, how you love someone and what they mean to your life, that changes. So I think that romantically, it’s probably done. But [those relationships] will always be a staple of the show. They’ll all be in each others lives in some major way.”
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to Wilmington to shoot videos with the Tree Hill gang. Watch for mega-coverage next week! — Matt Mitovich

One Tree Hill Exclusive: Lucas and Haley Get Busy!

The young'uns down in North Carolina are branching out.
Chad Michael Murray — perhaps tired of being asked, "What's next for Lucas?" — will set out to actually unspool what's next for his alter ego, as the writer of a One Tree Hill episode airing late this coming season.
I have also learned exclusively that Bethany Joy Galeotti is ready for her own "first time" — as a director, and will call the shots from behind the camera for one episode.
Offering each multitasking cast member expert guidance in their respctive endeavors will be series creator Mark Schwan. — Matt Mitovich.
Bay Village’s Kate Voegele got a boost from her appearance on a recent episode of One Tree Hill. The singer-songwriter’s latest album, Don’t Look Away, catapulted up the Billboard charts to No. 78 and sold close to 10,000 copies (no easy task in today’s market) in a single week. Her cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” which she performed on One Tree Hill, can be found on the digital version of Don’t Look Away.
Congrats to her. She is an amazing singer and actress!!!! Here are two videos of her performing lately. These songs were both featured on One Tree Hill!!
